Eileen Benthal is a writer, speaker and certified professional coach with a special heart for caregivers. She graduated from Franciscan University with a degree in Theology and a minor in English. She combines her academic education, years of ministry to women and life- changing experiences as a mother and caregiver for a child with CCM3 (a rare neurological disease) to offer hope to the hopeless. She is the author of the recently published book entitled “Breathing Underwater; A Caregiver’s Journey of Hope.”

Eileen has been published in local and national publications, including The Word Among Us. Her family’s story and their commitment to Canine Companions for Independence has also been featured in the New York Times. Eileen writes a weekly column entitled “Life on Purpose”, which is published online at RiverheadLocal.com and SoutholdLocal.com, and she contributes a bi-weekly Community Column for Times/Review Publications.

Eileen is a fierce defender for the dignity of all human life and a speaker who advocates for her family and others with disabilities. She has spoken at a press conference at the Capitol in DC on healthcare, on the nationally syndicated Relevant Radio Drew Mariani Show, as well as with Sean Hannity Radio and Hannity and Fox and Friends on Fox News. Her interviews were also replayed on Rush Limbaugh’s radio program.

In addition to these appearances, and the book, Eileen gives retreats and workshops around the country, as well as hosting online webinars and one-to-one coaching for caregivers. Eileen speaks from her heart and inspires from a place of faith in God to help those who seek strength and purpose in the midst of grave trials.

Eileen has been married to her husband Steve for over twenty five years and is the mother of four young adult children, the youngest of whom has a rare genetic disease which has caused her to have multiple surgeries, as well as cognitive and physical impairments. Despite these trials, Eileen and her daughter daily choose to walk a path of miracles and see the blessings in the midst of the trials. They live on the North Fork of Long Island, a short bike ride from the water, with their service dogs, cats and a spectacular view of the sky.
